About Us

Our mission is to advocate for all homeschoolers in the Chattanooga area, create community organizing, and provide resources for an inclusive homeschooling community. We aim for every homeschooler and family to be their authentic selves and be celebrated.

Community organizing involves cooperative efforts and campaigning by local residents to promote community interests. There are many homeschooling communities in Chattanooga, but they often don’t overlap, and some families journey alone. At CHIC, we believe that by uniting, we can avoid unintentional segregation often caused by lack of accessibility. Together, we are stronger and can pool resources. Supporting ourselves and each other is easier when you have a community behind you. Whether it's financial access, neurodivergency inclusion, racial justice, secular inclusion, gender identity inclusion, family configuration inclusion, or any other need, we want to learn from and support each other.

Chattanooga is rich in resources for homeschooling, but not all resources are accessible to everyone. CHIC can help brainstorm ways to make these resources available to all and advocate for solutions.

Our goal to provide resources is straightforward. We aim to compile and share inclusive resources rather than create new programs. Our primary purpose is not to create programs, but we encourage and support our members to do so when there is a need in our community. We prefer to help an existing program become more inclusive when it is already available in our community.

These three aspects define who we are. We are a community that brings all Chattanooga homeschoolers together through shared resources, and our best resource is each other. We remain low labor, no cost, and without time commitments, ensuring accessibility. We hope you will join us and find new friends.
